My Quest to Become the Ultimate Robotics Guru

Hi, friends.

I have been in love with robotics since I first laid eyes on Rosie, the robotic maid from the Jetsons.  Ever since, I have tried my best to learn to recreate Rosie, my robotic incarnation of perfection.  I feel like humanity is on the cusp of a robotic golden age (followed by the inevitable robot uprising) and I'd like to be one of the innovators that help push the state-of-the-art.  So now, all of my projects have an indirect goal of creating a real-life version of Rosie.

When I began my robotics pursuits many years ago, I mistakenly thought that the biggest challenges came from the lack of mechanical designs that allowed robots to flourish.  Now that I have matured I realize that the real shortcoming for robotics is the software that controls the hardware.  I realized this only a couple years ago, but I have done my best to develop the right control softwares necessary to make my robotic dreams a reality.

First on the plate for me was the control of motors.  I spent 4 years learning the ins and outs of the OpenServo, an open-source servo system.  A really neat project if you have the time to browse the site.

Next up is my investigation of robot behavior modeling, starting with computer vision.  I'll keep you updated on how that goes.
